Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Stewardship & Constituent Engagement, the Marketing Associate oversees the management, development, and implementation of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Health System Annual Giving Program and Annual Donor Journey to help build the College of Veterinary Medicine’s (CVM) alumni and grateful client donor pipeline. This role is responsible for the multi-channel annual giving program in collaboration with the Constituent Experiences Strategy team and provides support for the Advancement team whose emphasis is on major gift donations and alumni relations.
The Marketing Associate develops and implements targeted strategies that focus on annual giving donor renewal, acquisition and reacquisition, working with the college’s development and engagement team members to devise and execute plans that incorporate direct mail, digital, phone center and peer-to-peer outreach into annual giving campaigns; serves as the college’s liaison to the Constituent Experiences Strategy team within the Alumni Association; and works with the college’s communication team on the design of collateral material for annual giving, major gift and/or alumni engagement purposes. This position manages alumni, grateful client, prospect and suspect information, data requirements and analysis, and research that effectively support and direct not only the college’s annual giving efforts but also major gifts, donor and alumni/grateful client events. They develop reports that include departmental alumni/grateful client breakdowns, heat maps, prospect demographics and broader data analysis.
The Marketing Associate is expected to be a strong collaborator and team player, effectively and professionally communicate with college leaders, volunteers, alumni, grateful clients, and donors, and maintain a high level of confidentiality as it pertains to knowledge about our alumni and donor base. This role must be detail-oriented, able to interpret, present and use data to drive strategic decision making, be highly motivated, driven, and skilled in managing and organizing their work and time which will include occasional evening and weekend work. This position will be familiar with and able to utilize MS Office programs, become proficient in the use of both the University’s donor and CVM’s client databases, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manages and serves as the subject matter expert on the College of Veterinary Medicine's (CVM) multi-channel annual giving program to include the development of targeted strategies that focus on donor renewal, acquisition and reacquisition; partners with the Executive Director of Development and the Director, Stewardship & Constituent Engagement to set the vision for all annual fund efforts including cultivation and solicitation; Works with central’s Constituent Experiences Strategy team to devise and execute plans that incorporate direct mail, digital, phone center and peer-to-peer outreach into annual giving campaigns; Serves as the CVM's liaison to the Constituent Experiences Strategy team within the Alumni Association; Manages the solicitation calendar, annual giving donor relations activities, Grateful Client program, Day of Giving, , alumni class gift projects, Buckeye Funder projects, Pet Memorial Program, central renewal process and other special projects that support the ongoing engagement efforts of the college's alumni and grateful client annual giving donors; Responsible for managing alumni, grateful client, prospect and suspect information, data requirements and analysis, and research that effectively support and direct CVM's annual giving efforts; Collaborates with central annual giving and Advancement reporting colleagues to design and build new reporting tools; Works with CVM's communication team on the design of collateral material for annual giving, major gift and/or alumni/grateful client engagement purposes.

Manages data, research and reporting requests from the CVM's Advancement team (Chief Advancement Officer, major gift development officers, donor experience and alumni relations) as well as requests from other college-level departments, units and centers that will assist with strategies and decisions related to travel, donor qualification and solicitation, and alumni and donor events; Reports will include departmental alumni/grateful client breakdowns, heat maps, prospect demographics and broader data analysis; Edits reports and documents for CVM Advancement team to determine and share viable donors for additional follow up by major gift development officers.

Serves as a strategic thought partner in the planning of stewardship efforts in relation to annual gift appeals, helping to shape initiatives that celebrate donor impact and encourage continued support; Donor recognition and follow-up concepts will be executed by the donor experience team to enhance donor satisfaction and retention.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of related experience in annual giving, student philanthropy/engagement, and/or direct fundraising, donor relations, or stewardship
Desired Qualifications (We’re committed to building a team that reflects a variety of skills and experiences and encourage you to apply even if your experience does not align perfectly)
Demonstrated expertise with MS Word and Excel, especially the creation, maintenance, and distribution of user-friendly reports
Experience working in an alumni/donor/customer database to include query tools, data quality control, problem solving and report generation
Proven experience with the development of an annual giving strategy and marketing of the importance of philanthropic support
Exhibited skills in driving programing to engage students
Experience working with specific donor constituencies such as students, parents or young alumni
Direct sales or face-to-face solicitation experience.
