Role Overview:
We’re hiring an experienced Master Electrician who specializes in transformer and substation systems, including control cabinet testing. This role is crucial in ensuring preventative maintenance and diagnostic precision across high-voltage systems. You’ll lead field operations, coordinate testing protocols, and mentor junior electricians while ensuring safety and compliance at every level.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain power transformers and substation systems
Conduct in-depth control cabinet testing (relay coordination, wiring checks, circuit validation)
Perform TTR, Megger, DGA, and insulation resistance testing
Lead transformer oil sampling, vacuum filling, and field commissioning
Interpret complex electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
Collaborate with engineers, clients, and contractors on system upgrades
Document inspections, test results, and modifications
Uphold safety and regulatory compliance
Train and supervise junior field staff
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid Master Electrician license (U.S.A)
10+ years of industrial or utility-scale electrical experience
5+ years working with substations and transformer systems
Proven expertise in control cabinet diagnostics and fault isolation
Familiar with high-voltage safety procedures and PPE requirements
Ability to work independently and lead on-site teams
Preferred:
Background in utilities, renewable energy, or industrial power systems
Experience with SCADA and telemetry systems
Knowledge of NETA/IEEE testing standards
