The Medical Director of the Maternal Innovation Center will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight to advance equitable maternal and infant health care services. This role combines clinical responsibilities in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) with administrative and community engagement duties. The Medical Director will serve as a champion for promoting equitable health outcomes, collaborating with the centers leadership, community stakeholders, and other key partners to implement innovative strategies for health care and social service delivery.

As a Regional Perinatal Center with a Level III NICU, Capital Health offers an exceptional opportunity to provide comprehensive care within a collaborative environment. Our team includes 23 delivering physicians, 16 Certified Nurse Midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and outreach workers, all supported by experienced office and clinical staff. Utilizing Athena and Cerner EMR systems, our providers deliver high-quality care in well-equipped settings.
Clinical Duties:
- Full-time OB/GYN to join our robust and established multi-specialty group.
- Call is shared within the group on a 1:7 rotation.
- Typical office hours include morning and afternoon sessions, with a break from 12 PM to 1 PM for lunch.
- Capital Health handles an average of 3,800 annual deliveries, offering a dynamic and fulfilling professional experience.
- Actively participate in clinical case discussions, consultations, and treatment planning for patients receiving care at the Innovation Center.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Serve as a champion for equitable maternal and infant health care services in collaboration with the Innovation Centers leadership team.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve health care delivery and outcomes for maternal and child health.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the center.
Community Engagement:
- Promote and support the development of new partnerships within the community to strengthen maternal and infant health services.
- Act as an effective liaison for community stakeholders, facilitating open communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Lead community engagement efforts to address social determinants of health and build trust with underserved populations.
Data and Research:
- Analyze disparate data sets to identify trends and performance improvement opportunities in maternal and child health.
- Collaborate with researchers to design and execute studies focused on equitable care and innovation in perinatal services.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform policy and program development.
Program Development and Workforce Training:
- Develop and implement initiatives for perinatal workforce development, including training programs and continuing education for health care providers.
- Collaborate with social service organizations to enhance support systems for expectant and new mothers.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs aimed at reducing disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Masters in Public Health Preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in OBGYN, with a demonstrated commitment to health equity.
- Leadership experience in health care administration, program development, or community engagement.
- Bilingual or Trilingual candidates are a plus (Spanish, Creole)
