The MedicalScience Liaison (MSL) is a member of a field-based team ofscientists who function as an extension of the US Medical Affairsorganization. MSLs are responsible for developing and enhancingprofessional relationships with medical thought leaders involved invarious phases of product development. MSLs provide medicalinformation through scientific exchange, and clinical/scientificsupport for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairsdepartment.

This is a field-based positioncovering Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, NewMexico, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Hawaii,Alaska, and requires professionals with establishedpersonal and scientific credibility to interact with thoughtleaders and academic centers ofexcellence.

While the positionis advertised as a Medical Science Liaison role, we welcomeapplications from candidates with Senior-level experience, as weare open to considering the creation of a requisition forindividuals with additional expertise if Jazz determines that thereis sufficient businessneed.

EssentialFunctions

KOL Developmentand FieldEngagement:

  • Identifyand develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders(KOLs) and healthcare providers within the therapeuticarea.

  • Develop and executeterritory plans in alignment with US Medical Affairsplans.

  • Identify andcommunicate key clinical and research issues and insights from KOLsto appropriatedepartments.

  • Participate inmedical education for healthcare professionals (HCPs) throughon-site presentations at healthcare institutions, investigatormeetings, national conferences, advisory boards, or regionalmeetings.

  • Provide scientificsupport for additional activities such as medical congressstaffing, advisory boards, and sales traininginitiatives.

PositionsSelf as ScientificExpert  

  • Maintainsan up to date and high-level knowledge of the therapyarea, Jazz products, new and emerging areas of research,therapeutic issues and trends, and competitivelandscape.

  • Establishesreputation as a trustworthy and knowledgeable source of scientificand medical information for the healthcarecommunity. 

  • Supportsdevelopment of Jazz Pharmaceuticals positioning as the scientificauthority in the therapeutic area. Attends appropriatescientific congresses to stay abreast of developments and tosupport Regional, National and local KOLactivities and Jazzinterests.  

  • Acquiresa broad understanding of local and national protocols andstandards of clinical practice and trends in diseasemanagement in theUS.   

  • Provideclinical presentations and information in response to unsolicitedquestions (as appropriate) in academic, community, and healthcareprovider settings in both group and one-on-onesituations

  • Communicates emergingdata and the clinical experience with our productsthrough scientific exchange and peer-to-peerinteractions discussing benefits and risks in an objectivemanner.

  • Provide support fordata generation activities (company-sponsored studies,collaboration studies,ISTs)

  • Provide scientificsupport for additional activities such as medical congressstaffing, advisory boards, and sales traininginitiatives.

MedicalAffairs Planning and PlanExecution 

  • Contributesto the development of the US Medical Plan and providesinput into local strategies andtactics.  

  • Worksin a collaborative manner with cross-functional colleagues toensure a Key Account Managementapproach.  

  • Workscollaboratively with cross-functional colleagues—includingCommercial, Clinical Development, and Market Access—to ensure acoordinated Key Account Management approach that aligns scientificengagement with broader organizationalobjectives.

  • Interacts withHCPs as a scientific resource to support activities aligned withthe Medical Plan including advisory boards, speaker development andclinicaltrials. 

Responsiblefor maintaining Company standards and JazzValues 

  • Behavesethically and with integrity at alltimes.  

  • Acts asan ambassador to enhance Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ imageas an advocate of medical advancement by using knowledge ofproduct, disease state and pipeline products to engage healthcareproviders in meaningful scientific exchange ofinformation. 

  • Documentsand forwards reports of adverse events and productcomplaints according to Jazz’s policy to ensure safe andeffective use of Jazz Pharmaceuticals'products. 

  • Adheres tothe relevant national and local Codes ofPractice.  

  • Maintainsand actively executes a personal development plan aligned with roleexpectations and career growthobjectives.

  • Prepares timelyreporting according to the companyneeds.

Preferred

  • Demonstratedsuccess supporting product launches in a field medicalcapacity.

  • Experiencemanaging multiple molecules or therapeutic areas simultaneously,with proven ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamicenvironment.

  • Track record ofeffective clinical trial site support, including driving patientrecruitment and engagement withinvestigators.

  • Understandingof regulatory requirements for field-basedpersonnel.

Required/PreferredEducationand Licenses

  • Advanceddegree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’experience in Oncology or Rare Disease isrequired.

  • License (RN, NP,CNP, PA or equivalent) with a minimum of a Master’s Degree (orequivalent) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Oncology orRare Disease clinical practice isrequired.

  • A minimum of 2years of experience as an MSL or comparable industry or clinicalrole is required.

  • Experiencein neuro-oncology is stronglypreferred.

  • Experience as aMedical Science Liaison with a strong track record of success isstrongly preferred.

  • This isa field position, and applicants must be willing to travel 60-70%of the time.

  • Valid driver’slicense and live within 60 miles of a majorairport.

JazzPharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitablecompensation practices and we strive to provide employees withtotal compensation packages that are market competitive. For thisrole, the full and complete base pay range is: $154,400.00 -$231,600.00

Individual compensation paid withinthis range will depend on many factors, including qualifications,skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinentfactors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensationaligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, withinthe established pay framework and our Total Compensationphilosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influenceindividual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on aregular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only onepart of your total compensation package. The successful candidatemay also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus orincentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance withthe terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or IncentiveCompensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants inaccordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity IncentivePlan.
