Position Eclass:GF - Graduate Flat Pay
Position Summary:The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
Additional Details:Seeking graduate students to serve as Instructors for the Pathways program at the Middle College at UNCG.
“Pathways” is our name for a series of UNCG courses taken yearly by high school/UNCG students attending the Middle College at UNCG, designed to teach strategies for success in college, career, and life. The curriculum covers such topics as professionalism/workplace etiquette, preparing for college, career exploration (especially related to health & medical careers), identity development, and financial literacy. Pathways courses also include guest speakers, field trips, and individual job shadowing/internship experiences, which are coordinated by the Middle College Liaison.
Instructors will be responsible for delivering Pathways course content to Middle College at UNCG students (high school Sophomores/Seniors in fall; Freshmen/Juniors in spring). The curriculum is available electronically, and Instructors work together and with the Middle College Liaison to design and assess assignments and class activities.
In addition, Instructors may accompany students to and from Pathways field trips and job shadowing approximately once a week. Transportation is provided via Guilford County school buses. Some Instructors may also help supervise students during Health/PE courses taught by other UNCG Instructors.
