JOB DESCRIPTION: MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICER


DEPARTMENT: Loan

CLASSIFICATION: Non - Exempt

REPORTS TO: President & CEO (CLO)

SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibility

SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining a loan portfolio of $15 million plus and annual production of $6 to $9 million (combination of sold and on

balance sheet loans). Promotes the financial institution and its lending services to the community and helps to identify and serve the community's financial needs.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Originates and approves or recommends for approval consumer and mortgage loans. Notifies customer of lending decision.
  • Processes consumer loan applications, approves loans within individual approval lending limits, verifies credit references, and prepares appropriate documentation.
  • Responsible for collection of loan portfolio and accounts assigned.
  • Establishes centers of referrals. Develops new account relationships through community and professional visibility and among existing clients.
  • Understands and abides by bank policy, regulatory requirements, and compliance matters.
  • General measures of quality are: Charge offs to be less than .25%, delinquency less than 1%, and no exceptions or ticklers older than 60 days.
  • Makes joint calls with others areas of the bank.
  • Identifies cross-sell opportunities of insurance products, retail deposits, and so on.
  • Refer clients or prospective clients to trust, investments, commercial loans, retail deposits merchant services, electronic banking, and so on.
  • Actively achieves individual sales, fee income, referral, operational, and community involvement goals.
  • Maximizes fee income opportunities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent knowledge.
  • Three to five years' experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of consumer lending policies and procedures. Knowledge of mortgage lending policies and procedures.
  • Limited Credit Insurance License.
  • Knowledge of retail loan products and key deposit products.
