Purpose of the role:

MHIRJs network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Network MRO Manager of Planning & Forecasting is responsible for overseeing maintenance, repair, and overhaul planning activities across the network to ensure operational readiness, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role leads the development of short- and long- range forecasts for material, labor, and capacity needs, aligning network wide maintenance schedules with business objectives and customer requirements. The manager collaborates cross-functionally with supply chain, engineering, finance, and operations teams to optimize resource allocation, minimize downtime, and improve overall MRO performance. A strong focus on data-driven decision making, process standardization, and continuous improvement is essential to supporting both operational reliability and long-term strategic goals.

Here are the daily responsibilities of a Network MRO Manager of Planning and Forecasting:

  • Responsible for building and maintaining department positive employee relations including employee recognition and disciplinary actions
  • Responsible for daily and overall operations of the team to include safety, schedules, personnel, training, and quality of work.
  • Mentors and guides the planning and forecasting team, managing department responsibilities including but not limited to:
    • Conduct team meetings.
    • Support Planning Supervisor with timekeeping: track attendance, approve timecards, and vacation requests.
    • Coaching subordinates on leadership and technical skills for succession planning
    • Performance evaluations, training and employee development activities
    • Participate in interview processes and recommend hiring decisions
    • Identify and communicate best practices & champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the development and execution of network-wide, multi-site MRO planning and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with operational, financial, and customer objectives
  • Oversee short-, mid-, and long-range maintenance forecasts for fleet requirements, labor needs, material consumption, and facility capacity to include rolling forecasts (monthly, quarterly, yearly) based on aircraft utilization, check intervals, and customer programs
  • Produce reports, recaps, and statistical data for senior leadership to monitor progress and performance.
  • Oversee integration of forecasts into operational plans, ensuring alignment between planning, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Oversee the creation of critical path flow charts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, operations, and customer support to gather input and validate planning assumptions
  • Assist in cost estimating tasks.
  • Manage planning tools, forecasting models, and ERP/MRO system inputs to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Support contract planning obligations and ensure alignment with service level agreements (SLAs), turnaround time (TAT), and delivery schedules
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership on fleet maintenance trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning meetings to inform and algin stakeholders on forecasts
  • Provide leadership and development to a team of planners, analysts, and forecasters
  • Drive improvements in productivity and cost reduction across the planning function.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning accuracy, process efficiency, and tool automation
  • All other duties as assigned.

Here is what is required to succeed:

  • Bachelors degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in maintenance planning or forecasting,
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in progressively responsible leadership roles, including direct people management, team development, and strategic decision-making.
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation maintenance processes, regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA), and maintenance check scheduling (A, C, D checks)
  • Proficiency with ERP and MRO software platforms
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with forecasting tools, Excel, and data visualization platforms
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining customer relationships at senior levels
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to effectively interact at all levels within the organization and with external customers
  • Candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and be an excellent communicator.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (e.g. working with large datasets, PivotTables, s, Conditional Formatting, etc.)

Work Environment:

  • Position requires full-time presence at our Tucson, Arizona facility with on-site collaboration essential to role success
  • Work will be performed in a combination of a traditional office environment (approx.. 80%) and commercial airplane hangar (approx. 20%).
