Job Description
This person will be responsible for non-credit student instruction and/or clinical supervision on a part-time basis in the clock-hour Practical Nursing Program.
QualificationsEDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
- Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current Pennsylvania RN license. Required
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of clinical nursing experience within two years of employment. Required
- Relevant teaching experience on the secondary or post secondary level. Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form in English. Required
- Developed organizational skills. Required
- Must be certified in CPR at the Basic Life Support level or higher, and maintain certification. Required
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Required
- Ability to provide instruction in subject area for which hired. Required
- Functional ability with microcomputer functions. Required
- Knowledge of learning theory and classroom management techniques. Required
- Ability to work independently. Required
Responsibilities
- Provide non-credit classroom and/or clinical instruction in the clock-hour practical nursing program.
- Identify student performance problems as they surface and consult with staff for resolution of the problem.
- Assist the student to benefit from adequate clinical experience by offering effective supervision and instruction in the clinical area.
- Assist other non-credit instructors and school administrators with laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
- Provide feedback to students and complete program evaluations.
- Maintain daily attendance records.
- Secure materials needed for instruction.
- Develop lesson plans; prepare assignments, supplemental teaching materials, sample tests, etc.
- Must comply with policies and procedures of clinical sites where instructing students.
- Attend a minimum of one nursing program meeting per level.
- Attend clinical facility orientations and updates as required by those facilities.
- Standing or walking for extended periods of time.
- Multiple physical positioning including full range of motion.
- Fine motor dexterity.
