SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Birthing Center provides a comfortable environment that features private rooms, low lighting, infant warmers, television and all necessary monitoring equipment. Additionally, the Birthing Center has especially equipped operating rooms for Caesarean births and delivery services (including anesthesia) are available 24/7. SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale was the first hospital outside of Chicago to be designated as a Level II Plus Special Care Nursery. SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale currently sees approximately 2,100 annual deliveries.
