Job Summary

Provide support to a department or unit. The incumbent in this position will work on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

Department Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for leading group fitness instruction in classes that range in a variety of skill level and type from aerobic, muscular strength, stretch, yoga, spin, dance, and others. Responsible for set up, safety, and take down of each class taught. Creates a warm and welcoming class environment that is comfortable for attendees of all fitness levels and abilities. Candidates must be high energy and able to motivate others to reach their goals.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Coordinate activities within a department - 40
Create, develop, and implement activities to achieve department objectives.

Achieve goals - 20
Work to accomplish the goals of the department through campus and community outreach, program success, and maintaining compliance.

Provide customer service - 20
Communicate effectively with university constituents and customers by explaining instructions, answering questions, and providing solutions.

Administrative support - 20
Provide support to a department including but not limited to clerical duties, data gathering, technical support, event scheduling, etc.

Supervisor Expectations:

  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
  • Keep up certifications as needed
  • Help Campus Recreation staff maintain group fitness equipment
  • Follow Campus Recreation policies and guidelines
  • Keep track and record class attendance
  • Must have a group fitness certification
  • Good communication skills
  • Works well on a team to accomplish goals
Required Qualifications

Required Experience
High school diploma and one (1) year of related work experience.

Proposed Salary

$20/hr

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU's Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
