The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering is pleased to invite applications from highly qualified individuals for teaching faculty positions in the field of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses and participate in college and professional service.
QualificationsCandidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline, demonstrate the ability to teach large classes, and have a strong interest in using technology in engineering education.
Other InformationThe MAE Department currently has about 36 faculty, 150+ graduate students, ~800 undergraduate students, and annual research expenditures exceeding $27M. A new graduate program in Aerospace Engineering will start in the fall of 2025 within the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department. Additional investments in aerospace include over $100M investments in our Panama City, FL campus (https://inspire.fsu.edu/). We expect that the candidate will collaborate with our existing Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP), the High Performance Materials Institute (HPMI), the Center for Intelligent Systems, Control, and Robotics (CISCOR), and the Aerospace, Mechatronics and Energy Center (AME). HelpfulThis position is at Teaching Faculty-I, but well-qualified candidates will be considered at a higher rank.
We are interested in candidates whose background is in Mechanical & Aerospace engineering in fields including but not limited to Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Aerospace Propulsion, Aerospace Structures, and Capstone design projects. Other areas of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will also be considered, particularly if they complement existing department strengths.
