Required:

Education
Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or a closely related field of study; Certified as a superintendent or otherwise meet eligibility requirements to serve as a program coordinator and Field Supervisor (see TAC 228).Experience

  • The ideal candidate is collaborative and has a strong interest in developing active partnerships with local and regional schools.
  • Experience in leading innovative educational programs in the PK-12 setting and at the district level.
  • Has a record of demonstrable success as an educational leader in the PK-12 setting.
  • Demonstrated potential for success as a scholar (i.e., research and publication).

Preferred:

  • Experience in leading in the PK-12 arena at the campus level.
  • Experience serving as a dissertation committee member and/or experience serving as a dissertation committee chair.
  • Experience supporting and nurturing dual credit programs and/or partnerships as a PK-12 !SD leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

SummaryThe College of Education is seeking an experienced PK-12 educator with at least three years of service in the superintendency who has also taught in higher education. The successful candidate will coordinate, recruit for, and teach in the College of Education’s superintendent program and will potentially serve as a doctoral-level instructor and in dissertation support (committee and committee chair roles). Number of courses will depend on program assignment (e.g., maximum 4:4, but could be 2:2 depending on percent of assignment to the doctora I program anticipated to start in August 2026).
ScopeCollege of Education Faculty and Program Leadership.DutiesEssential: In collaboration with the Dean and Chair, this colleague will be responsible for the superintendent preparation program, a cornerstone for our anticipated Ed.D. program set to being in August 2026. Duties will include teaching, research, and service and will have a primary instructional focus with superintendent certification preparation and a secondary role in supporting doctoral programming.
Supervision
Received: Reports to the Chair of the Education Department.

Working Conditions
Usual: Eight-hour workday, forty hours per week, with some early or late hours depending on workload; and attendance at various university, community, and school activities.
This position is security sensitive. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice sate work habits at all times.

Appointment begins as early Spring 2026.
