The division of Human Development and Quantitative Methods at The University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (GSE) seeks nominees and applicants for an open-rank tenure-track position. Penn GSE is among the top-ranked graduate schools of education in the country, with masters and doctoral degrees focusing on all aspects of education and educational research, including teacher education, educational leadership, education policy, and counseling and human development. The Human Development and Quantitative Methods division within GSE houses masters and doctoral programs in human development and quantitative methods, and two accredited master's programs that address both school and mental health counseling.


Qualifications
The successful applicant for this current search would teach and conduct research in areas that connect the division's counseling and human development emphases. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching address one or more of the following areas: approaches to understanding the intersections of counseling, child and adolescent social-emotional functioning, and school adjustment/performance; the roles identity , cultural contexts, and family factors in shaping socio-emotional and educational growth; and community-, family-, or school-based mental health interventions that have an impact on development.

The successful candidate must show a clear capacity to conduct impactful research in areas such as these and to teach courses on either counseling theory and interventions, child and/or adolescent development, or sociocultural development as it applies to counseling and applied development work. Applicants must have earned a doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology or show clear evidence that their doctoral degree will be completed prior to assuming the position in fall 2026. Licensure in psychology is highly preferred.
