The Operating Room at BJH is separated into five Pods that each align with different surgical specialties: Pod 1: Pelvic specialties: gynecology, urology, colorectal, and general surgery Pod 2: Trauma, trauma services (wound treatment), reconstructive surgery for ortho (hip/knee replacement, orthoscopic knee and shoulder) and plastics repair Pod 3: Cardiac, transplant, vascular, heart/lung transfers Pod 4: Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, MIS, Plastics, and General Oncology Pod 5: Ortho, Spine, Neuro, ENT, kidney/liver tranplants If you have 2+ years of experience as an Operating Room Nurse – we want to talk to you! Overview Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News provides and sets up necessary instruments, supplies and equipment for different types of surgeries or procedures according to established safety requirements and preferences of physician. Keeps patients safe from adverse events associated with surgery/procedure, including but not limited to: infection, burns, pressure ulcers, wrong site surgery, etc. Has knowledge of wound stage classifications. Observes patient during procedure to detect possible complications and/or breaks in sterile technique; furnishes emergency equipment and supplies to prevent adverse outcomes. Preserves and labels operative specimens for analysis. Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.? Participates in professional development and life long learning. May participate in orientation and preceptorship of new staff, as needed. Minimum Requirements Education Nursing Diploma/Associate's Experience 2-5 years Licenses
