Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Oyster Shucker to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for expertly shucking oysters and preparing them for service in a unique raw bar setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in shucking oysters or working a raw bar, although training is provided.

Duties

  • Skillfully shuck oysters while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Prepare oysters for various dishes, ensuring they are fresh and ready for service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shucking station, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Assist in prep as needed
  • Participate in inventory management by tracking oyster stock levels and reporting any shortages.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation or food service, preferably within the culinary or catering sectors.
  • Strong knife skills and familiarity with various kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of seafood handling and preparation techniques is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration in the kitchen.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the business needs.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, as this position works "on stage" in the view of dining room and mezzanine guests.
  • Ability to speak to the general public about oysters and various aspects of the dining experience.
