This position will involve supervising and training Instrument Operators and Surveyor Assistants. The role will lead the survey field crew and direct the work, working outdoors in all weather conditions. Responsibilities will include working at elevation on structures, collecting survey data, and performing layouts in accordance with Bechtel Surveying Procedures. The job will require marking points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks, carrying and setting stakes, and clearing brush from survey lines. Additionally, the role will involve staking and grading for excavation, operating survey instruments to obtain data on angles, elevations, points, and contours, and compiling notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed. Effective communication with Field Engineers and Supervisors will be essential, as will the ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing conditions. You will assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project, review design drawings for correct data, and perform and check calculations. Additional duties will include loading, transporting, and unloading materials, tools, equipment, and supplies, performing minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment, and assisting in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation. Adherence to safety procedures will be a critical aspect of this role.
