Job Description

We are looking for a full time chef who will be spending considerable time in our home throughout weekdays (Monday through Friday) while preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two adults and one young child. Eventually it will be two children.

Meal Schedule
  • Breakfast: The day would start at 6:45am, when the chef would prepare breakfast for the family. Clients would make real-time requests for breakfast dishes, but the range of requests would be limited to typical breakfast cuisine.
  • Lunch: The chef would have lunch ready by 11am, although the meal would not need to be plated and served at a specific time, given the child and parents eat lunch at different times in the late morning/early afternoon. Similar to breakfast, the clients would make specific requests for lunch well in advance. The child's lunch is typically a very simple combination of a protein alongside grilled vegetables and plain rice/noodles. Although creative dishes from different cuisines (especially Asian) are always welcome. The adults would request no more than three different dishes, which would likely constitute a salad, a protein dish, and a carb dish.
  • Dinner: The chef would then prepare a seated or family-style dinner for the entire family at 5pm. Chef would have freedom to craft a menu consisting of a smaller appetizer dish as well as an entrée.
Other Considerations
  • Given the length of the day, which begins at 6:45am and ends around 5:45/6:15pm, we would provide considerable down time for the chef throughout the day when meals are not happening. The amount of time the chef would actually work would be in line with a conventional work day of 8-9 hours.
  • Beyond preparing the meals, the chef would be in charge of ensuring the kitchen is consistently well stocked, daily shopping/provisioning required for meals, and cleaning the cooking areas (stove, oven, hood, counters, etc. thoroughly.
  • Given our interest in many different types of cuisines (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and other Asian, as well as Mediterranean, grilled meats, and vegan/vegetarian) we are looking for an individual with several years experience at an acclaimed or fine dining restaurant.
