Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused PET Front Desk / Prior Authorization Specialist to join our Imaging Department. This dual role is essential in ensuring a seamless experience for patients—handling front desk operations with warmth and professionalism while efficiently managing prior authorizations for PET scans and imaging procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to balance administrative accuracy with compassionate patient service.


Front Desk Duties:

  • Greet and check in patients for PET and other imaging appointments.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule imaging procedures and coordinate with technologists and clinical staff.
  • Collect co-pays and assist patients with registration or paperwork as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Prior Authorization Duties:

  • Obtain prior authorizations for PET and other imaging studies from insurance providers.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements.
  • Submit necessary documentation, medical records, and orders for review.
  • Track and follow up on pending authorizations to ensure timely approvals.
  • Communicate effectively with referring providers, insurance representatives, and patients regarding authorization status.
  • Maintain accurate records within the EMR and imaging scheduling systems.
Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in medical front office, prior authorization, or imaging scheduling (PET/CT experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, medical terminology, and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
