Performs proper specimen collection by confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques, and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results. Processes specimens appropriately for subsequent testing. Accessions, updates information and makes corrections to orders as needed. Demonstrates ability to perform POC testing as directed. Job Requirements EducationRequired: High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceRequired: 3 months phlebotomy experience in a laboratory settingPreferred: 6 months phlebotomy experience SkillsGood verbal and written communication skillsAble to work independently and collaboratively in teamsProficient in using computers and computer systems Licensure/Certification/RegistrationRequired: Certified as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agencyRequired: Phlebotomist II’s have 30 days from the expiration date of their certificate to provide an updated certification, as long as there is documentation that certification renewal has been applied for.
