Job no: 528563 Position type: Staff Full Time Benefit Status: Benefited-Union Campus: UMass Lowell Department: Plastics Engineering Salary: anticipate salary of $60,000-$65,000, based on grant Applications Open: Sep 26 2025 Applications Close: Open until filled General Summary of Position: The successful applicant will conduct analytical and experimental research in the areas of plastics processing and characterization with an emphasis on extrusion and structure-properties relations. The postdoc will also help immediate supervisor in writing scholarly articles and reports. Assist with classes as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Required): Education: Ph.D. in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials/Polymer Engineering or related field Experience: At least three years of laboratory research experience and student mentoring Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Proficiency with scientific computing software and chemistry and processing laboratory techniques Additional Considerations: Should demonstrate a minimum number of at least 2 publications in the field Ability to work independently, with limited direction, as well as within a team environment Ability to mentor and inspire students with limited research experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience with polymer characterization and analysis Knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, sustainability, and process modeling Special Instructions to Applicants: Only current UML Employees within the Grants however, the posting may close when an adequate number of qualified applications is received.
