Salary: $120,000–$200,000 + Competitive Benefits & Bonus Program
Direct Counsel is representing a well-regarded and growing law firm that provides full-service legal representation to public school districts, community colleges, and higher education institutions throughout California. With offices in both Northern and Southern California, this firm is a trusted legal partner in board governance, personnel and labor issues, public finance, construction, litigation, and more.
We are currently seeking a Litigation Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join the firm's collaborative and mission-driven team in their Orange County office. No prior experience in public entity law is required—just a strong interest in the field and a commitment to high-quality litigation practice.
What You’ll Do:
- Represent public agency clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation at the state, federal, and administrative levels
 - Manage discovery, draft motions, and participate in hearings
 - Provide legal counsel on general liability, employment, and governance matters
 - Collaborate with seasoned attorneys on high-impact matters involving education and public agency law
 - Gain hands-on experience and training in public entity representation
 
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 2 years of litigation experience in any practice area
 - JD from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar
 - Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
 - Eagerness to learn and work in public entity law and education law
 - A team-oriented mindset and excellent client communication skills
 - Public entity or education law experience is a plus but not required
