Job Overview

Quality Control Specialist IV will perform work requiring knowledge and skill in installation support, design creation, procedures, and techniques, using computer equipment and software. Trained in the skills and techniques related to engineering and/or software design/maintenance. Possess a practical understanding of engineering concepts. Ensures that the product/service and process meet quality and safety standards. Experience includes testing equipment to make sure that the process operates effectively and safely. Ensures that the product/service and processes used meet quality and safety standards. Experience includes performing Quality Control inspections of various installation work.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Perform installation inspections and documents results on required forms.
  • Perform NDT inspections (VT primarily) as required.
  • Analyzes documents, drawing, customer requirements and quality procedures to ensure Chugach installation work meets all applicable standards.
  • Review, assist in developing, QA workbooks for accuracy and at completion to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Assist in maintaining Divisions training records.
  • Facilitates Safety and QC training, depending on level of experience.
  • As an NDT3 assume responsibility for NDT training and assist in welder qualification program
  • Recurring work is assigned in general terms; more complex assignments include information on methods, procedures, sources of information and precedents to be followed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Accountable For:
  • Ability to work with NIWC Atlantic and other technical codes, program/project managers, and SMEs.
  • Ability to have experience working in or around industrial environments such as shipyards and Naval/Coast Guard bases and piers.
  • Completing assigned work in a timely and professional manner.
  • Keeping managers apprised of progress, issues, and planned efforts of each assigned task using effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • NDT3 certified, or very close to qualifying (VT).
  • Must be able to access Government facilities and be DBIDS eligible
  • Must have a High School diploma and 10 years' proven experience in quality control/assurance 10 years professional experience solving technical problems.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Facilitates Safety and QC training, depending on level of experience.
  • Must meet and maintain security requirements including clearance eligibility.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire background check and drug test.

Preferred:
  • 10 years' work experience in an industrial setting or shipyard performing inspection activity.

Working Conditions:
  • A blend of office Environment (Desk), and heavy industrial locations, shipboard & shore.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
