Our client is a well-established manufacturing and laboratory facility near a major Midwest metro area seeks a dedicated professional to join its leadership team. This facility supports regulated production operations with a strong commitment to quality assurance, safety, and continuous improvement. The company operates under ISO and GMP guidelines, ensuring high standards across every department. They are now looking for a Quality Laboratory Manager.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$80k - $90k
Position Overview:
The Quality Laboratory Manager will lead all aspects of laboratory quality systems, ensuring alignment with ISO 9000 and ISO 17025 standards. This position plays a critical role in overseeing lab operations, quality control protocols, staff training, and regulatory compliance. The Quality Laboratory Manager will also work closely with leadership to support cross-departmental initiatives that drive performance, safety, and product excellence.
Responsibilities of the Quality Laboratory Manager:
- Maintain and continuously improve the lab's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure proper calibration, validation, and documentation of lab instruments and methods.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Oversee internal and external quality audits, serving as the main point of contact.
- Monitor and report laboratory KPIs such as turnaround time and test accuracy.
- Support the procurement of quality-critical supplies and manage retention samples.
- Supervise the training of quality inspectors and plant operators on procedures and compliance expectations.
- Verify availability of inspection personnel across all shifts and ensure training records are current.
- Participate in customer complaint investigations and provide quality documentation as needed.
- Work collaboratively with leadership on safety committee initiatives and quality communication.
- Minimum of 5 years in a quality-focused role within a laboratory or production environment (experience in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or dietary supplements highly preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 17025 compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in staff training, audits, and laboratory inspections.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to lead investigations and solve problems efficiently.
- Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs in a lab/manufacturing setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or another relevant scientific field required.
