OPTOMETRY RECEPTION/ APPOINTMENT CLERK - PART TIME

In this role you will:

  • Schedule provider and student appointments via computer scheduling system, keeping schedules accurate and full.
  • Assist Optician with patient registration, data entry, translation, creation of letters for eyeglasses that need to be picked up and phone calls to address patient’s optical complaints.
  • Continually monitor appointment schedule, acknowledge appointments, and communicate with other staff regarding cancels, no-shows, and late arriving patients.
  • Greet and assist patients, with an emphasis on positive customer service.
  • Run the Eye Clinic’s Recall, wait list, no-show report daily to ensure continuity of care.
  • Properly prepare insurance information for upcoming appointments ensuring patient will be covered and/or clinic will be reimbursed.

The successful applicant will offer:

  • History of good attendance and positive work attitude.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/Khmer and English preferred
  • Computer proficiency preferred. Knowledge of professional office practices is needed.
  • Must be comfortable in a medical environment and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and good judgment are all required.
  • Prior experience in a eye clinic or other medical office is desired.
  • Knowledge of vision terminology, an understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and health insurance systems preferred.
