Compensation - $11.00/hour

Qualifications:
• High school diploma and advanced education with college level courses or trade school preferred
• Previous experience with computers and MS Office.
• Understanding, compassion, patience, and maturity when dealing with elders, co-workers, families and visitors.
• Strength required is light duty - lifting 25 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 10 lbs.
• Pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling are required
• Stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required.
• Talking is required; must be able to speak the English language and proficiently express ideas by spoken word.

Job Specific Duties include:
• Visitors/Sign in/out
• Telephone calls and messages: Answers the telephone in a polite manner and directs/transfer calls, takes messages or connects caller as appropriate. Maintains a list of residents, staff and board members.
• Front desk coverage: Is responsible for coverage of the front desk during shift
• Locking doors: Is responsible for locking/unlocking front door at designated times. The receptionist should coordinate door security with Maintenance.
• Security gate: Serves as the primary person to operate the security gate i.e., monitors calls from the gate and allows authorized individuals onto the property.
• Mail: Sorts and delivers mail. Separate resident’s mail from Poydras Home mail.
• Monitors the residents in the reception area and notifies the nursing staff of any problems that arise.
• Daily calls to independent living residents
• Performs other clerical duties as assigned such as filing, photocopying, sending facsimiles and other clerical activities.
• Performs any other duties as requested by the CEO, Executive Administrative Assistant or charge nurse on duty.
• Effectively communicates and corresponds with co-workers on important matters and messages using the Receptionist Pass On daily shift notes.
• Make reservations for the PH resident events.
• Submit transportation requests for doctor/dentist appointments for the Residents.
• Conduct any required staff, visitor, etc. screening upon entry to campus for infection control.
