The Receptionist Team Lead is responsible for supervising Bliley’s team of part-time Receptionists. Receptionists are responsible for welcoming and guiding guests with courtesy, professionalism, and compassion. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to work flexible hours in a sensitive environment.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all of Bliley’s part-time Receptionists, including assisting with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new associates.
  • Provide or ensure all training for Receptionists, including initial training during onboarding, as well as ensuring continuing education and performance management.
  • Approve timecards and manage time and labor.
  • Assist as a Receptionist when needed, including:
  • Maintaining integrity of front lobby, including cleanliness and appropriate environment.
  • Greeting all guests who arrive at the funeral home with warmth, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Orienting guests to public spaces, offering introductions, ensuring needs are met, and providing warm hand-offs to team members.
  • Assisting guests at public and private visitations, ceremonies, and receptions.
  • Welcoming guests arriving for funeral arrangements, advanced planning appointments, picking up death certificates, or dropping off clothes or other personal effects. Greet walk-ins and other unexpected visitors.
  • Maintaining active awareness of guests present in facilities at all times.
  • Answering incoming calls, taking messages, providing information, and forwarding messages appropriately when necessary.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures for Receptionists are met appropriately.
  • Work closely with the Central Services manager to ensure appropriate staffing as needed.
  • Organize the monthly Receptionist work group.
  • Provide regular feedback to Receptionists, including performance evaluations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Significant ability to work independently.
  • Exhibits a high degree of sensitivity and caring for families experiencing a loss.
  • Well-groomed with a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Pleasant personality and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates consistent care & concern for guests and associates, regardless of diverse backgrounds and presentations.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, and talk. May need to transport items weighing up to 15 pounds and stand for one to two hours at a time.


Work Schedule:

  • This is a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), varied schedule position which may require availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • This position supports all three Bliley’s locations as needed: Bliley’s Augusta (3801 Augusta Ave); Bliley’s Chippenham (6900 Hull Street Road); and Bliley’s Staples Mill (8510 Staples Mill Road).
