The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking a Medical Doctor to serve as Regional
Medical Director in the East TN Region near Knoxville, TN. The East TN Regional
Medical Director oversees and supports the regional health services of 15 local health
departments and a mobile clinic. Programs include childhood vaccinations, women,
infant, and children (WIC) services, STD testing, family planning, emergency
preparedness, telehealth, and primary care. This position reports to the State Medical
Director and is part of Community Health Services division.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Valid and unrestricted Tennessee medical license
- Valid DEA license
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in a primary care specialty such as Family
- Medicine or Internal Medicine
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivates a climate of excellence, trust, and compassion.
- Collaborates with other regional, metropolitan, and state leaders to implement improvements in access to care.
- Active leader in clinical staffing, seeing patients one day per week.
- Remains up to date on best practices in medicine with focus on patient centered care.
