Job Description
Description The Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a qualified Assistant Professor of Research to support existing research efforts and develop new opportunities for research funding. The successful candidate must be a scientist at the interface of computer science and data engineering with experience in embedded computing, advanced signal processing, and physiological time series analysis. A focus on innovation and technology are essential for the role to support existing NIH funded research. The faculty member would work collaboratively with other faculty on their funded research and on research project development. This is a one-year renewable position dependent on continued funding. The expectation would be the candidate secures extra-mural funding (whether as Principal Investigator or Co-investigator) by the end of year 3. Qualifiations PhD in Computer Engineering Minimum 3 years research experience. Experience in embedded computing and advanced signal processing, and physiological time series analysis preferred, with priority given to experience in developing wearable and home-use clinical research data collection devices. Preferred candidates will have background employment working in healthcare setting and a working knowledge of physiological and respiratory data in clinical research.
