Overview:

Risk Manager

Job requires minimum weekly travel. Office at SRMH with travel within Blue Ridge, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville and surrounding communities predominantly.

  • Responsible for the facility/division's risk management activities, which include coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims against the division/facility, interfacing with claims adjusters and defense legal counsel.
  • Also responsible for coordinating and maintaining a loss control program, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs.
  • Coordinates with division leaders and collaborates with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss.
  • Engages team members to evaluate incidents and conduct investigation provide for appropriate response to claims.
  • Ensures compliance with risk management related laws and regulation to control and minimize losses. Identifies trends and reviews System reports; conducts loss control audits; and conducts reviews to evaluate patient care quality and to identify possible risk exposures.
  • Participates with select committees related to the assessment of patient care and safety, customer satisfaction and facility issues to assist in providing risk management expertise and direction.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in related field required
  • Master Level Degree preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) required within 3 years of hire

Experience

  • 2 years clinical compliance or 2 years Healthcare Administration or 2 years Healthcare Complaints/Appeals, or 2 years Risk Management
  • required experience can include healthcare, nursing, regulatory/compliance, business, risk management, legal, and/or insurance Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification,
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) required within 3 years of hire.
