The Safety Equipment Tester will oversee all aspects of providing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to the employees of Memphis Light, Gas, and Water. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operate P.C. laptop customized PPE data software, spreadsheets, barcode scanners, Oracle system and Outlook to requisition materials, process invoices, record dielectric testing results, track PPE inventory and usage rates, record respiratory mask-fit results for employees with hazardous potential of gas inhalation, process internal employee PPE requests, respond to emails, join remote video conference meetings, provide data to support budget and take digital photos to record damage and/or defects to PPE. Apply dielectric cleaning & perform high voltage equipment testing to evaluate performance of rubber goods, fiberglass tools, and jumpers. Coordinate six-month OSHA requirements of rubber goods and change out appointments with electric personnel. Record and replace damaged PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, gloves, hats, rainwear etc. in exchange for new PPE and maintain adequate stock. Perform mask respiratory fit test on employees that works in hazardous environments. Monitor and maintain accounting for various types of PPE and review accuracy against on-line inventory. Confer with manufacturer representatives to discuss PPE products, industry trends, supply issues, defects/QC (Quality Control) to obtain results and resolve problems. Perform preventative maintenance and maintain proper use by construction and maintenance personnel by replacing damaged items with new or refurbished equipment. Operate Division vehicle. Perform other duties as directed or required. Qualifications LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS A valid driver's license from state of residence is required. EDUCATION High School Diploma or General Education Development is required. EXPERIENCE 0 - 2 years of Safety/Personal Protective Equipment is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Oracle. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must successfully complete Placement/Performance Exercises. Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds or more of force on a regular basis. Works inside and outside under good conditions. Subject to the hazards of high voltage testing, high-pressure, high-pressure cylinders, machine operation, noise, dust, and chemicals; medium lifting/carrying; and physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, grasping, and climbing.
