Safety Manager
Position Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment. This role includes overseeing compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety training, and acting as a liaison between management and employees regarding safety matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA and other regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Provide safety training and education to employees and management.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain safety records and reports, and communicate findings to management.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure safety measures are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction or federal settings.
- Certification as an Asbestos Supervisor, Safety Management, or similar credential preferred
- Knowledge of EM 385, USACE, NFPA 70E, and Construction Quality Management (CQM).
- OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications required.
- CQM-C certification preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
