Required:Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (such as Business or Public Administration, Economic Development).
- 5-7 years of related professional experience in a combination of business/economic development, finance, small business consulting, business management, banking, grant management, and/or small business ownership.
- Familiarity with Small Business Administration (SBA) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) operational, financial and case management procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in related field as listed above.
- Related professional experience in a leadership role, including supervision of professional and administrative staff.
- Direct experience with SBA and/or SBDC.
Responsibilities:Overall management of Small Business Development Center field Center, which includes planning, implementation and administration of a program providing small business advising and training.
- Management in accordance with federal, UTSA and host institution requirements.
- Knowledge of federal and state appropriations.
- Administrative responsibilities include: hire and manage staff, evaluate and monitor the quality and quantity of contractual performance, oversee online database system for tracking and reporting, marketing, develop additional resources, maintain existing and develop new delivery systems, safeguard program confidentiality and integrity, and advocate the cause of small business. Engage in client advising as needed.
- Financial responsibilities include: Proposal development and submission, management of multiple funding streams and expenditures, compliance, and reporting.
- Liaisons with key stakeholders, including funding partners, other small business and economic development providers, and related small business organizations.
- Alignment of Center strategic plan with that of the Lead Center and host institution.
- Ability to create and facilitate integration with the host institution that fully aligns with SBDC strategic goals and objectives.
- Ability to think about creative value-added solutions that enhances the positioning of the local SBDC.
- Overnight travel within service delivery area, and to quarterly management and other meetings both in and out of State.

- Oral Communication: Effective individual and group engagement with a wide variety of individuals, organizations, and the general public.
- Written Communication: Ability to generate traditional and electronic correspondence, develop successful funding proposals and ensure high-quality marketing communications.
- Execute the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Exercise initiative and appropriate independent judgement.
- Understanding of local culture and target markets.
- Bilingual: Ability to communicate in English and Spanish preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate Collaboration and Advocacy activities are preferred.
Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
