Job Purpose
- As member of the PU Drivetrain Development Department, you design and bring powertrain components and technologies into our vehicles, ensuring that all marketability, reliability, regulatory, profitability, manufacturing, and design requirements and targets are met.
- At the Senior Engineer Career Level, you will take ownership and more of a sub-leadership role when it comes to developing a department function set or feature on the vehicle.
Key Accountabilities
- Group Leadership - Lead a small project team of contractors and/or associates as PIC / Project Leader.
- Engineering Solution Design- Conduct or be the sub-lead in the design of engineering solutions for assigned Powertrain component / department function set and the associated drawings and validation processes, to gather data and provide feedback on their feasibility, costs, and performance. Address issues and changes as they come up. Use Catia 2D/3D design and Predictive Simulation to carry out solution design and testing.
- Engineering Specifications - Conduct or be the sub-lead analysis of information and the drafting of engineering specifications for an assigned Powertrain component / department function set, to inform engineering work in the organization and / or of its suppliers.
- Data Collection and Analysis - Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends in technical evaluations.
- Supplier Management- Work with suppliers to coordinate requirements, schedule activities, and address issues in a timely manner.
- Project Management- Coordinate all steps of the development process for assigned part.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education & experience required.
- Minimum Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant experience Other Job-Specific Skills
- 2D/3D CATIA, simulation, supplier support/negotiation and manufacturing support.
- Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and excellent communication/ interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to travel & work overtime may be required.
- Basic experience of coordinating the work of others to achieve general end results.
Workstyle
- Must be able to work onsite at least 4 days per workweek. One fixed remote workday a week may be posible with prior approval.
