Our client is a mid-sized CRO based in Austin, Texas. They work in several therapeutic areas. Our client provides clinical trial management services to help streamline success within clinical studies! Currently, they are looking to add a Senior Medical Director to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$300k+ Depending on experience
Position Overview:
The Senior Medical Director will combine oversight of clinical trials with strategic medical leadership across multiple therapeutic areas. This role serves as a key medical and scientific leader responsible for overseeing protocol execution, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building strong relationships with sponsors, CROs, and community partners to support enrollment and growth. Ideal for a research-experienced physician skilled in adult chronic disease management, the Senior Medical Director will mentor junior investigators, collaborate with operations to optimize site performance, and contribute to strategic decisions shaping the center's future.
Responsibilities of the Senior Medical Director:
- The Senior Medical Director will serve as the Principal Investigator.
- Oversee the conduct of clinical trials in compliance with GCP/HSP guidelines, ensuring participant safety, data integrity, and effective study staff oversight.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify new research opportunities, therapeutic areas, and strategic partnerships that drive organizational growth.
- The Senior Medical Director will build and maintain relationships with community physicians, organizations, and partners to support recruitment, expand therapeutic areas, and increase revenue.
- Provide medical and scientific oversight across studies, including protocol review, risk assessment, safety monitoring, and investigator training.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, feasibility, and regulatory teams to ensure high-quality trial execution, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee team members, provide coaching, continuous learning, and constructive feedback.
- Fully GCP trained.
- 8+ years of experience with at least 2 years as a Principal or Sub-investigator in Clinical Research.
- Experience in adult chronic disease management.
- Experience working on adult chronic diseases such as GLP-1, diabetes, COPT, or obesity.
- Experience working on movement disorders.
- An MD, DO degree is required from a U.S.-accredited Medical School.
- Active Board Certification is required.
- Current and Active license to practice medicine in the U.S.
