Purpose:
The Senior Staff Accountant supports the Business Office and LAFS by providing timely and accurate financial reporting for the school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):
Financial Reporting
- Maintain and calculate the monthly deferred revenue schedule in accordance with GAAP
- Review and process student refund drops and other tuition adjustment calculations for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare the monthly student census including student starts and drops.
- Prepare and reconcile various GL accounts including bank reconciliation schedules, deferred tuition, related party transactions.
- Calculates, adjusts, and reviews tuition adjustments in the AR System (Campus Vue) for completeness and accuracy.
- Reviews monthly Campus Vue transactions particularly student tuition related billing prior to release and posting to the GL System (Great Plains).
- Prepare statistical reports for financial reporting.
- Assist in the year-end financial audit and insurance and regulatory compliance reporting.
Treasury
- Prepare daily and monthly journal entries including bank transactions, various closing entries, monthly accruals, and related party transactions.
- Releasing wire transfers, historical cash flow reporting, stop payments, etc.
- Assists in various treasury functions including daily register reconciliation, ACH/Wire payment reporting, weekly deposits, positive pay uploads and stop payment requests.
- Prepare weekly cash flash report for submission to executive management.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):
- Assist in ad-hoc or special projects as required.
Other Responsibilities:
- Contribute to, recommend, and implement best practices in reporting and analysis, streamline and automate workflow and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Proficient in advanced Excel with the ability to program and maintain pivot tables (works with large amounts of data.)

Education | Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Minimum of 5 years of combined financial accounting, reporting software and data automation experience.
- Experience in the Education sector preferred.
Certificates | Licenses | Registrations:
- CPA preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Highly proficient computer skills including advanced Excel skills (Pivot, VLOOKUP, etc.) and the ability to program in excel.
- Proficient with standard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, SharePoint)
- Great Plains or other mainframe accounting system preferred.
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent use of computer screens
- Fluorescent lighting
- General office environment and office equipment.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to lift and carry equipment up to twenty-five pounds.
- Ability to bend, stand, sit, and reach.
- Use of keyboards.
- Effectively operate general office equipment such as a computer, scanner and other LAFS office equipment.
