Title: Serenity Team Member

Job Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Summary
The Serenity Team Member serves on the front lines of ministry in our residential recovery program for women. This team member is responsible for creating a safe, respectful, hospitable environment in which the necessities of life are provided to support the care of our guests.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an environment of hope for client commitment to personal change
- Utilize community knowledge and administrative skills to advocate in connecting guests to needed resources
- Monitor the activities of residents in all areas of the facility.
- Offer one-on-one care, encouragement, and support
- Assist with resident intakes
- Check incoming luggage and bags
- Distribute linens, towels, and toiletries.
- Accurately administer and document results of drug/nicotine testing
- Monitor residents taking medications and document with accuracy
- Assist with resident transportation to and/or from appointments as needed
- Ensures the safety and security of the environment for residents, employees, and volunteers.
- Maintains necessary documentation in the ministry database for guest services
- Supervises, trains, and coaches volunteers as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent education and experience
- 2-3 years related experience preferred
- Ability to show compassion, set appropriate limits, and exercise mature judgment regarding any necessitated service restrictions
- Have a basic understanding of trauma, mental illness, alcohol and drug addiction, physical and sexual abuse, and poverty
- Ability to safely defuse tense situations and to de-escalate potentially harmful or violent situations
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and other office equipment
- Ability to give direction to others
- High degree of flexibility and resourcefulness
- CPR and Basic First Aid, desired
- Basic organizational and follow-up skills
Working Conditions
- Ministry campus facility where residential services are provided
- Exposure to stressful client situations requiring compassion and discernment
- Walking, standing, sitting, bending, and minimal lifting required
- Some local travel may be required for various purposes
- Attendance at meetings and occasional special events, sometimes during the weekend or evening hours
