PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
The Server is a member of the Food and Beverage team that assists in ensuring that guest service and food and beverage standards are met. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest service, are essential requirements of the position. The Fed is one of Boston’s most stylish and storied cocktail and culinary experiences. Housed in the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, The Fed draws inspiration from the building’s inception with dark wood interiors, hand-tufted rugs, shelves lined with Boston banking and cocktail history, and over 90 curated pieces of local art. From classics to cutting-edge, mixing old and new is the culture at The Fed. Each curated drink is thoughtfully composed to balance flavor, creativity, and presentation. The menu offers elevated seasonal fare and a variety of shareable plates from locally sourced ingredients that can be enjoyed indoors or on the seasonal Rose Garden Terrace. The Fed is a destination where locals and travelers come for the cocktails, stay for the conversation, and return for the atmosphere in the heart of the city.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guest and take beverage/food orders.
- Set-up lounge/restaurant for evening cocktail and dinner service.
- Serve beverages/food per established standard procedures.
- Up sell additional items to all guests.
- Respond to guest’s requests; report guest experience to manager.
- Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hotel standards
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
- Assist bartender/busser/barback as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
- Complete assigned opening and closing side work.
- Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by a supervisor.
- Must have be fully flexible to work variable schedule hours and days.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY/ EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of serving experience in a high-end/fine dining restaurant establishment.
- Must have knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, craft cocktails, and food.
- Use oral communication to perform job; speaking with guests.
- Make minor decisions requiring limited judgment, i.e. task sequencing.
- Make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, i.e. not to serve intoxicated guests, prioritizing workload.
- Must have related previous experience in similar environment.
- React professionally and remain in control when working with high volume under pressure.
- Attend departmental meetings and provided trainings.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Maintain a positive attitude and set example among colleagues.
- Must become TIPS certified if not already.

SALARY RANGE
- $18.50 per hour
