Position Summary
Under supervision of the Sheetmetal Supervisor and/or Manager of the Carpentry and Sheetmetal Shops, and/or general direction of Lead Sheetmetal Worker perform the full range of journey-level duties to fabricate, assemble, install, weld, and repair sheetmetal products and equipment such as control boxes, HVAC duct, drain pipes, and ventilators using tools and equipment of the trade. Select gauge and type of metal according to product being fabricated. Weld using oxy-acetylene cutting with smooth seams, joints, and burred surfaces. Respond to trouble calls for emergency repairs and/or replacements. Perform detail layout of ductwork fittings; work from blueprints and drawings. Provide direction to Facilities Mechanic(s) and/or Facilities Workers. Maintain accurate hours on each job; operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools. Follow established safety procedures at all times.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
5 years Trade related apprenticeship program (Required) Or equivalent experience and education (Required) Working knowledge of materials, equipment and tools related to sheetmetal trade, including achievement of operational level skills (Required) Skill in working with sheetmetal, stainless steel, aluminum, various angles, channel and tubing; including determining gauge and type of metal to be used according to product being fabricated. (Required) Skill in assembling and installing sheetmetal products such as control boxes, drain pipes, duct work (Required) Skill in the set-up and operation of fabricating machines and related metal equipment in order to cut, bend, shape, and straighten metal (Required) Skill in troubleshooting metal assemblies for signs of damage and deterioration; ability to assure assemblies and installations conform to specifications. (Required) Ability to read, interpret and understand technical language in structural blueprints, identify beam to column connections, and orient oneself within steel structures. (Required) Skill in modifying and/or adapting designs, procedures or methods to make necessary alterations and modifications. (Required) Skill in estimating material and labor requirements to accomplish task; to include arithmetic calculations to determine square footage of surfaces and areas. (Required) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, visitors, and outside agencies (Required) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. (Required) Skill in written and oral English communication, using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend (Required) Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, i.e. dirty, noisy, etc. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment
Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination. Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
