SHIFT LEAD BARISTA/RETAIL SUPPPORT

Overview of Role:

Bonton Farms is seeking a reliable and hospitality-driven Shift Lead to support daily operations at our Coffee House & Farmers Market. This position ensures smooth shift operations, excellent customer service, and adherence to quality and safety standards. While prior barista experience is a plus, it is not requiredtraining will be provided.

Responsibilities: The Shift Lead Barista is responsible for supporting the overall goals and daily operations of the Coffee House and Farmers Market, ensuring both run smoothly and meet performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare high-quality coffee, non-coffee beverages, and food items to standard.
  • Support team members during shifts to maintain efficiency and a positive work environment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot POS systems for both the coffee house and farmers market.
  • Monitor product quality, inventory levels, and cleanliness throughout the shift.
  • Uphold health and safety standards at all times.
  • Oversee and complete daily responsibilities, including:
    • Opening and closing procedures (equipment setup/shutdown, cash handling, securing the store).
    • Product quality checks and restocking for the coffee house and market.
    • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a clean, welcoming space.
  • Ensure weekly cleaning and upkeep tasks are completed, including:
    • Proper cleaning of equipment (espresso machine, grinders, sinks, ice machine).
    • Rotating and checking inventory for quality and expiration.
    • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicate promptly with managers regarding scheduling, supply needs, or operational concerns.
  • Address and resolve customer issues in a professional manner.
Qualifications:

  • 23 years of experience in hospitality, customer service, or food & beverage required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food handling and retail operations. .
  • Humble, service-oriented, and driven by community impact.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and able to stay calm during unexpected rushes or changes.
  • Ability to manage time, delegate tasks, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of barista experience in a specialty coffee setting.
  • Experience in team development and employee growth.
  • Experience working in a retail or farmers market environment.
