Our client, an industry leader in steel manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Slitter Set-up and Machine Operator - 1st Shift to join their dynamic team. As a vital part of the Industrial department supporting production operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of steel slitting processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title: Slitter Set-up and Machine Operator - 1st Shift
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay Range: Commensurate with Experience
Shift: 5:00AM - 3:10PM, Monday through Thursday
What's the Job?
- Set up slitter heads and inspect for proper maintenance of slitter tools to ensure optimal operation.
- Operate the slitter machine to cut continuous lengths of steel into coils of specified width, maintaining quality standards.
- Inspect material during the slitting process to detect irregular cuts and winding issues, making adjustments as needed.
- Perform quality checks using calipers and tape measures, and document results in quality assurance reports.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to 5S standards and safety protocols at all times.
What's Needed?
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience and understanding of steel slitter principles and operating practices required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed work instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in a loud environment with moving mechanical parts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and report issues.
