Job Title:Spatial Immuno-Oncology Researcher Faculty Department:Medicine | Pathology Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. Additional Information: We invite applications from accomplished physician-scientists or PhD scientists with expertise in spatial pathology and cancer. This is a tenure track research position being hired by the Dept/CoM and the CCC. Duties and Responsibilities This position is a research-focused tenure-track faculty position to lead an independent research program focused on spatial immuno-oncology, utilizing cutting-edge technologies (e.g., spatial transcriptomics, spatial proteomics, imaging mass cytometry) to study the tumor microenvironment. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a world-class team dedicated to understanding and advancing the field of cancer immunology through innovative spatial analysis of the tumor microenvironment. Requirements Successful candidates will hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in pathology, immunology, cancer biology, or a related field, and demonstrate a strong record of research excellence evidenced by publications in high-impact journals. They will bring significant expertise in spatial biology technologies, tumor microenvironment analysis, and immuno-oncology, along with a proven history of securing extramural funding. Ideal candidates will also possess strong leadership, communication, and mentorship skills, and thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments. Those with backgrounds in anatomic or clinical pathology, combined with translational or basic research in immuno-oncology, will find exceptional opportunities to make a meaningful impact in this role. Desired Requirements Demonstrated success in securing extramural research funding (e.g., NIH, DoD, NSF, major private foundations, or equivalent) Department/Division Overview The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) is a comprehensive bench-to-bedside research initiative focused on harnessing the body’s immune system to fight cancer at all levels ( https://cancer.osu.edu/piio ). Led by founding director Zihai Li, MD, PhD, the PIIO builds upon a rich portfolio of active investigator-initiated IO clinical trials being conducted at the OSUCCC – James. PIIO faculty conduct research in Systems and Translational IO. The PIIO is supported by our Immune Monitoring and Discovery Platform (IMDP), which provides comprehensive cell-based and molecule-based immunoassay services to support basic, translational, and clinical IO studies. The PIIO’s Immuno-Oncology Informatics Group (IOIG) provides data analytics for flow and mass cytometry, bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq, spatial transcriptomics and imaging, neoantigen discovery, and more. The Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the largest quaternary care center in central Ohio offering care in all sub-specialties ( https://pathology.osu.edu/ ). These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care. Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
