Virtual Office Special Counsel
- Experience Level: Senior-level attorneys (partner equivalent), capable of independently managing cases
- Location: Must be admitted to the state bar where they live (preferably residing in a state where we have an office)
- In-Person Requirements: Occasional appearances for hearings and related proceedings
- Billable Hours Expectation: Approximately 1,750–1,850 hours annually
- Compensation: Ranges from $185,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and workload

Our client, a national labor & employment firm representing management, is seeking a Special Counsel to join its Virtual Office. Ideal for seasoned employment litigators who want flexibility without sacrificing complex work.
About the Role
This mostly remote role focuses on administrative charges, demand letters, and employment litigation, including EPLI matters. You will lead case strategy, manage matters end-to-end (drafting, depositions, hearings, trials), and oversee attorneys and staff. Occasional local appearances may be required.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead single-plaintiff litigation and agency proceedings
• Draft and review pleadings, memos, and client communications
• Handle depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
• Supervise junior attorneys and support staff
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on legal strategy
• Periodically support class actions, PAGA, and complex matters
Qualifications
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school
• 7+ years of employment litigation experience
• Active bar license and residence in that state
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Proven success working independently in a remote setting
Preferred
• Law firm experience
• Experience with EPLI matters
• California Bar admission
