Responsibilities
Responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of computer and robotic systems used in a variety of manufacturing departments. They must be proficient in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. Automation technicians perform the administration, configuration, design, maintenance, programming, and qualification of various systems, while also troubleshooting any issues that might occur.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, and modification of systems
Communicate status, manage expectations, resolve issues, and insure top-quality service
Work with team members, and leadership on assigned projects
Provide expertise to continue advancement of automated systems throughout the site
Install, maintain, and inspect control system and workstation installations throughout the facility
Inspect and review manufacturing equipment installations for design and troubleshooting purposes
Ensure machines are properly calibrated
Provide system operation training on the assigned automation systems
Provide troubleshooting and maintenance support for all assigned automated systems potentially at all hours depending upon plant schedule
Read blueprints and diagrams
Perform analysis and research to determine the weakness and strengths of existing systems.
Reviews related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed.
Programs robot to perform specified tasks, applying knowledge of programming language using teach pendants, keyboards, control panels, or robot controllers.
Modifies programs to refine movement of robot using the various controllers.
Observes robots and related equipment to detect malfunctions, and repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
Observes and maintains quality of the automation processes.
Initiates and maintains documentation throughout the development and qualification process
Aids in Capital equipment installations
Hands on modifications of new and old equipment to improve production
Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
Perform other work-related duties as necessary
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Associates Degree Advanced Manufacturing or 10 years Automation Experience
Technical Certificate in a related field and 2 Year's experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with programming Motoman/Fanuc or similar robotic systems
- Solid works or similar CAD systems
- Machine tool technology tool and die making
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applied knowledge in statistics, problem solving, root cause analysis, process improvement and/or Six Sigma is desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED: Interfacing with equipment, entering/retrieving data, and using
computer and phone. Walking to other departments and passing through manufacturing areas on a routine basis. Some heavy lifting. Operating lab and testing equipment.
