Duties:

•Provides legal advice, counsel, and services to the State and as directed, to State agencies, public officials, and political subdivisions of the State (collectively the “State”).

•Manages caseload, researches and prepares high-quality documents

•Represents the State and its interests in contested matters by appearing in all courts at all levels.

•Coordinates enforcement of the South Carolina Underground Facility Damage Prevention Act (the “SC811 Act”)

•Serves as extradition hearing officer for the State of South Carolina

•Serves as attorney to the State Grievance Committee.

•Serves as coordinator for all FOIA requests sent to the Attorney General’s Office and provides legal advice and counsel to all employees of the Office on all matters relating to FOIA.

•Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience:

J.D. Degree. Must be a member of the South Carolina Bar and have satisfied the 403requirements before starting the position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must have knowledge and ability to interpret the laws of South Carolina. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Some overnight travel may be required.
