Job Description

Position OverviewKU School of Business invites students to submit application materials for consideration of key Student Assistant positions for the academic advising (JAA) and Business Professional Development (BPDA) Programs. These positions provide information, assistance, and customer service to student utilizing these programs.

Throughout their employment, student employees will maintain and manifest positive actions that align with and support the Code of Conduct for the School of Business.Job DescriptionDuties include but are not limited to:
  • 85%: Assist Office Manager and staff by performing primary receptionist duties and operations of front desk in Capitol Federal Hall to ensure quality service is provided to students. Answering incoming phone calls and addressing caller needs. Scheduling student appointments with business academic or career advisors and checking in students for drop-in and scheduled advising.
  • 10%: Answering general information regarding Capitol Federal Hall and the School of Business.
  • 5%: Provide additional support as needed and directed by full-time staff members; other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  1. Must be a current Business or Pre-Business student.
  2. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours.
  3. Ability to work one of the three weekly work schedules indicated. SP26 Must be available to work one of three schedules each approximately. 9 or 13.5 hours weekly:
    • JAA Tu/Th/F 12:30-5pm or
    • BPDP Tu/Th 8-11am & F 2-5pm or
    • BPDP M/W 12:30-5pm
  4. A friendly, professional receptionist who pays attention to detail, communicates well (written and verbal) and is committed to assisting people.
  5. Must be a team player who prioritizes and adapts to staff requests while able to follow directions, show initiative, and work independently.
  6. Ability to work with various online platforms, software and Microsoft Office programs.
  7. Must be extremely sensitive to confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications1. Student with a graduation date of 2028 or later.Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.Additional Candidate InstructionsSubmit online application, resume, and spring 2026 course schedule.
