Job Summary

The Department of Art, History, and Philosophy Photography Area is seeking Photography Lab Assistant to assist the photography program by supporting the students and faculty by facilitating a productive, safe, and friendly work environment in the digital print lab. The schedule will be determined upon consultation and agreement with the Photography Faculty with the possibility of evening and/or a weekend shifts. Additional duties will include:

  • Monitoring the photography area facilities.
  • Provide assistance in the Digital Lab to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  • Maintain a level of security in designated areas and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist with enforcing department policies and procedures.
  • Attend workshops and trainings as required.
  • Collaborates with AHP staff on projects as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, depending on specific functional area.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a Federal Work Study award.
  • Must be currently enrolled a minimum of six credit hours at the University of West Georgia.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must have a cumulative 2.0 grade-point average.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the Department of Art, History, and Philosophy and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
  • Must be proficient in Apple Mac OS, Adobe Photoshop, and Epson Printing Systems.
  • Capable of light lifting and cleaning.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with people from multicultural populations.
  • Experience working in a photographic darkroom.

Physical Requirements or Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry files and materials.
  • Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing.
  • Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
