Recitation and Wellness Mentors will facilitate a 2 credit-hour nursing course. This is an Instructor-Informed Student-Led course. As a Recitation and Wellness Mentor you will provide a welcoming environment that is conducive to students’ needs and supports student success. You will work to provide an example to the students by your actions in and outside the classroom. Mentors will prepare for and lead weekly
1 hour 50 minute classes for nursing students with the guidance of nursing faculty. You will engage the class by using Socratic questioning along with engaged-learning strategies to help participants learn and understand the science and art of nursing. Mentors will also integrate wellness activities
throughout the semester and are expected to role model and encourage participants to
engage in regular wellness-related activities.
1. Minimum nursing GPA 3.0 (preferred)
2. Good communication and teamwork skills
3. Effective time management and organizational skills
In this position, selected mentors will participate in a day-long training to be held at the beginning of the semester @ TWC. You’ll work approx. 6-8 hours/week. This includes session preparation and required post-session activities. There is also a monthly debriefing meeting and an end-of-the semester meeting.
