Job Summary: PNODE is seeking a dedicated and skilled Substation Construction Journeyman to join our T&D Substation Services team. This team member will travel across the state to ensure the safe and proper installation, inspection, and repair of new and existing electrical equipment, as well as related construction activities. The journeyman should have experience and technical knowledge in the electric utility sector. Personal and public safety are of utmost importance, as this work will be performed at various locations throughout the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities:
§ Perform/Manage electrical installation, alteration, repair, troubleshooting and inspection of electric power transmission & distribution systems.
§ Installation of new substation equipment as well as maintaining power transformers.
§ Ability to stand and walk for majority of 10 to 12 hours a day, climb ladders +/- 20 feet above ground, bend, lift product, equipment and tools up to 80 pounds throughout the day.
§ Must be able to understand and complete the required documentation and paperwork.
§ Work with high voltage systems up to 500KV as necessary to improve functionality or comply with updated codes.
§ Must be able to travel across the state to various job sites as required.
§ Must be able to transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to the work site.
§ Locate and validate work zones using GIS, survey reports, and internal system data.
§ Interpret blueprints, below-grade surveys, and staking sheets to execute tasks with precision.
§ Follow safety protocols, participate in job briefings, conduct job hazard assessments and adapt work based on the weather and terrain conditions.
§ Operate tools and equipment under supervision, including bucket trucks and testing devices.
§ Maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas in clean and safe conditions.
§ Participate in training programs and complete coursework as required for advancement.
§ Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, FCC, NEC/NESC, roadside safety guidelines, and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
§ High School Diploma or GED (General Educational Development).
§ Valid State license that allows you to practice as a journeyman electrician.
§ Completion of relevant Apprentice Program, or experience as an Apprentice/Journeymen Electrician.
§ Extensive knowledge of electrical hand tools and all required equipment operations.
§ Physical capability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 80 pounds safely.
§ Ability to work in confined spaces, such as manholes and pull boxes.
§ Able to work at heights up to 60 feet, climb ladders, work off platforms and be able to work in all weather conditions.
§ Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
§ Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently.
§ Coordinate with other trades at project sites to support construction activities.
§ Should have a valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred (without restrictions).
