Responsibilities
Amanda R. Cobb & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Birmingham, Alabama, is hiring a rising 3L Summer Law Intern (Class of 2027) who will have exposure to litigation and trial practice. The internship strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real-world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship. The internship has a full-time schedule in the summer beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, through Friday, August 7, 2026, with the potential to transition to a part-time schedule during the 2026/2027 school year. The selected intern will be paid $33/ hour and operate in a hybrid environment (combination of in-office and remote). The Summer Intern selected will also receive a $2000 Intern Stipend. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organization skills, an energetic/positive attitude, legal research knowledge, and the ability to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
Located in Birmingham, Alabama, we enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA law school and must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship.
 - 2L students in the top third of their class
 - Strong research skills
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills

Internship Details:
- Summer Internship Dates: 6/1/2026-8/7/2026
 - Office Location: 2311 Highland Avenue South, Suite 300, Birmingham, AL 35205
 - Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
 - Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.
 - Pay: $33/hour. In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
 - Work Arrangement: HYBRID - This position requires the majority of time working in office and some flexibility to work from home.  Based on this requirement, we are seeking students from local area law schools. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.
