Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals. The candidate will support Agile development of MS Windows and cloud-based solutions as a Product Owner and Systems Engineer, performing engineering analysis to define internal and external interfaces, user and data workflows, system architecture and design for new capabilities, as part of the Mission Planning and Decision Support Operating Unit (OU).
All work is based on-site in either Hollywood, MD or Melbourne, FL
Daily responsibilities include:
- Develop CONOPs, perform functional analysis, requirements decomposition, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into software specifications
- Develop User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the mission planning products
- Work closely with software development team to implement new capabilities and ensure requirements are met
- Support iterative development of UI/UX concepts and designs with customer feedback
- Perform trade studies to support design approaches and software/hardware selection
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- May include travel to other locations
Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:
- BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited university
- 2+ years of experience OR 0 years experience with a master’s degree in a related discipline
- 1+ years experience in one or more of the following Systems Engineering activities: operational concept development, architecture definition, interface analysis, requirements development and management, verification and validation, authoring engineering reports
- 1+ years experience as a Systems Engineer or Product Owner on an Agile software development effort
- User Story Development, backlog refinement, release planning
- Understanding of electromagnetic theory, fundamental RF principles
- Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years
- Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on-site in Hollywood (MD) or Melbourne (FL)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD SAP Clearance
- Experience using military aircraft mission planning systems
- Experience in electromagnetic theory, RF propagation, signals processing
- Experience with mathematical algorithm development, MATLAB, modeling/simulation
- Experience with UI/UX development
- Experience with MBSE Tools
- Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, .Net, Java, C, and C#
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as, Security+)
- Work well in a fast-paced team environment
